Which information should be mentioned in a resume

Initial step in a resume is to provide personal details like your name, address, contact number with your email address these are basic essentials required to be mentioned as personal details

Second step is to mention objective though do not have any significant importance in a resume but sometimes it is essential as it reflects your personality provided you prepare it on your own if not it is not at all necessary if you copy the subject from any other resumes

Next important step is area of your interest here you have to mention if selected how you are going to become useful with your knowledge to the organization with certain specific wordings, as in some resumes many candidates mention as they are interested to work in so and so department etc., it is not at all necessary to express it by mentioning few department names as it is the responsibility of the employer to decide where you fit, otherwise you can mention why you are a suitable candidate for the position

Next relevant and important step is to mention the career summary or your experience. This question will not arise at all if you a fresher otherwise it is absolutely necessary to mention the career summary with total number of years of experience you have in that particular field, it is also necessary to mention the experience you have in the sub areas

Next you have to mention detailed experience which you had at different industries or in institutes along with your designation with job profile in brief but do not make your resume a story about yourself instead mention them in a precise manner as either employer nor the interviewer may not have much time to read lengthy resumes

Here you can mention details about your projects but do not make a lengthy paragraphs about your projects instead just mention the title of the project followed by short description or an abstract about the project in brief

Further you can mention about your co-curricular activities, this may include certain paper presentations about the conferences or seminars you have attended or certain publications you have made or any awards or honors you have received

Regarding extra-curricular activities you can mention about the knowledge you have gained in the field of computers or any other relevant course you have done or learnt and other activities pertaining to your academics

Final step is to declare all the above said as final and finish your writing

At times, Resume writing can be one of the trickiest jobs, especially for beginners. Resume writing is an important marketing tool; its motive is to showcase the positives of your background and is to convince an employer that the resume holder fits for the job. However, we tend to make certain mistakes which might ruin our impression. So, here is the list of mistakes which must be avoided

Unclear objectives

A resume must have a clear objective statement. For instance, a resume must say that you have the skills to fulfill all the requirements for a job, its must be dead straight. Words and phrases like, try, "where I can grow", must be avoided and words like proven skills must be used in the objective statements.

Avoided weathered and irrelevant work information

You have just passed out of college with an engineering degree and you also have a 1 year experience as a salesman. So, if you are applying for an engineering job and you use such experience as your forte then you are showing irrelevant data. You may showcase it as additional skill. Moreover, any outdated experience must be avoided.

List accomplishments and not tasks

A lot of resumes display the responsibilities, for instance, I was responsible for recruiting sales executives. This must be avoided; every employer is interested in what you have achieved and not what your job instructed you to do. The above statement must be, I have recruited or selected sales executives. So, show what you have done and not what you previous job asked you to do.

Never list anything which is not directly connected to you. This can become a huge problem if the employer asked you about any unrelated data.

Don't write anything about references, references are not necessary part of a resume and might direct an employer to something so avoid it.

Above all, check your grammar and spellings as well, these are minor blunders but can have a huge impact.

Facelift to Your Resume

When it is about your career and life, you want to settle for nothing but the best. Even if you are currently employed, you never know when the perfect opportunity might come your way. Listed below are quick must-know tips to help you grab eye balls and turn your resume into a perfect one.
Revamp the Format
The last thing that one wants to be is an ordinary, run-of-the-mill applicant while searching for a job. Having the same look and the feel of the resume like any other jobseeker can be quite boring. Instead, adding a little bit of punch and making your resume look a bit snazzy, both presentation and content wise can help you make a perfect first impression. The idea is to keep it simple yet attractive.
Sell Yourself Well
Your resume determines the tone of your job search. Try to list each and every skill or capability related to the position you are vying for in a clear and concise manner. Never ever think that a particular skill or trait is not very important and need not be mentioned. Vague bullet points never help.
The simple way of adding relevant details to your resume is jotting down all the tasks done by you. When you delves deeper into you day-to-day working activities, you are bound to come up with something that is unique and challenging and adds substance to your resume.
Use Data to Back Your Achievements
Narrating all your plus points in a subjective manner would not elicit the results you expect in comparison to objective data. Hiring managers never want to read a laundry list of your job responsibilities. They are generally impressed with numbers, percentage of sales managed, growth accomplished, awards etc.
Be Succinct
Although you might feel like writing pages and pages about your work history, it is better not to be tempted. You should regard your resume as a highlights reel and should try to keep it manageable and not too lengthy.
Always Proofread
Nothing can be worse than reading a resume with major grammatical errors or typos.  Never take a chance and miss out on a great job by your resume being thrown into a pile of garbage due to these errors. Relook your resume and always read it out loud and get someone else to proofread your work as well.
You should always remember to have faith in your abilities and capabilities. Your resume is like a mirror to the growth that you have covered in your years as a professional.  An updated resume opens new doors and new job opportunities for you. It is like your career portfolio that you should update at least twice a year or as often as you can. You should also note your achievements and accolades that you receive, this will contribute to your own sense of personal worth which will also give you a basis for judging your “real value” in the employment marketplace.
