  1. Download and install Replay AV.
  2. Open Replay AV.
  3. Click the URL Finder button. The URL Finder screen will appears.
  4. Play the flash video you want to capture (for example, Google Video). Once you start playing the video, the URL finder will show the URL of the Flash video.
  5. Click Add Selection as New Show. The video's URL is placed into a new item for Replay AV.
  6. Change "New Show" to whatever you want the clip to be called.
  7. Click Record Now, then OK. This starts the flash video download (capture). You can see the progress of the capture in the Replay AV window.

  • In the Firefox browser usually it is
    C:\Documents and Settings\[your_username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default\cache\
    You can find it by typing "about:cache" (without quotes) in the URL address bar.
  • In the Mozilla browser click [Edit] - [Preferences...] - [Advanced] - [Cache] and find your cache folder. Usually it is C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\your_username\APPLICATION DATA\Mozilla\Profiles\default\something.slt\cache\
  • In Opera browser open the following folder" c:\Program files\Opera\cache4\
    where c:\Program files\Opera\ is the folder in which you installed Opera.

    Alternatively Opeara can store cache in the following folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[your_username]\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache4\
After opening the cache folder you may copy .flv files to any folder using a regular copy-paste method. Note that the cache folder of Firefox contains files without extensions, so it is much easier to use the Internet Explorer instead. Also please note that some .FLV files are very large so it is much easier and faster to get them using the above mentioned methods.

Web-browser video downloading plug-ins (extenstions) can be used to download vides from videos sharing web-sites like YouTube.

How to download HTTP flash videos with Firefox web-browser using DownloadHelper extension:
  1. Run Firefox
  2. Install DownloadHelper extension and restart Firefox.
  3. Open "Customize Toolbar" dialog. Find the icon for DownloadHelper and drag it onto the toolbar at the top.
  4. Navigate to a web-page with an embedded Flash player and play the stream.

The problem with this method is that the URL of a flash stream can have a filename with the extension different from .flv. So you need to know the extension being used for the stream and you need to add it to the supported extension in the "Preferences" window of DownloadHelper extension: "Right click on the icon of DownloadHelper" -> "Preferences" -> "MediaReq tab".

  7. When the flash video finishes playing, hit the Stop button.
  8. Open the folder with recordings and find the FLV file.
